frequently asked questions
- How do I care for my countertop?
We recommend using any mild, non-abrasive cleaner. We offer pHat Soap, which is a pH balanced soap for your concrete products.
We recommend waxing as needed for sheen, or every 3-6 months. We offer Monocera Beeswax in cream and black. Also, we have maintenance cream wax with Carnova (a hardener). You can order the items by clicking on Products or Contact Us.
- Will my countertop crack?
We stand behind out concrete countertops. If a crack occurs outside of normal use within one of year of installation, we will replace the countertop at no charge.
- Will my countertop scratch?
Cutting directly on the countertop will scratch the wax and sealer. We recommend the use of a cutting board. We can place an integrated cutting board in your countertop also.
- Will my countertop stain?
Concrete can stain. We use a penetrating sealer and food-grade beeswax upon completion of creating the countertop, which will block most stains. Balsamic vinegar will etch or stain any natural stone, including concrete. We take every measure to protect the concrete and recommend cleaning spills immediately.
- Is my countertop reinforced?
Yes. Based on a well accomplished structural engineer who specializes in concrete, we use his technique of reinforcing with ladder wire. This process reinforces the tensile strength, which is the measurement of the maximum stress the countertop has so it will not break.
- What colors can I choose? Can you match a certain color? Does the color vary?
Any color is possible through integral colors, acid staining, color hardeners, or dyes. We can match materials such as natural stones, paint colors, and color theme. We strive to work with you to create the perfect color choice. Due to the fact concrete is handmade, color and texture may vary.
- How do concrete countertops compare to granite?
While granite accomplishes the function as a countertop in beauty and durability, so does concrete. The design possibilities of concrete are virtually unlimited. The choices vary in colors, inlays, integrated item placement, edges, shape, texture, thickness, and much more. It is repairable and requires little attention if ever damaged. And most important, concrete is an art.
